Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain." - Psalms 127: 1

    Remember back in the day, when we built houses out of decks of playing cards: some were more like small shacks, and others, being built by professionals, were more like mini-card mansions which were probably made of 2-3 actual decks. I can recall myself trying to build a house of cards, I probably got at the most 26 cards, before a family member or friend utterly destroyed my creation.  Well looking back at those times allow me to reflect on life.  I look at life and at the path it builds for each person. We all start out with our own deck of cards, trying to build our own house, our own way. Some are just fine using a few cards from the deck, while others have to obtain multiple decks to show the glory of their work.

    Some of us, starting out with just 4 cards and made a triangle shaped house with 2 walls, but the winds in life came, and blew it down.  Others, like me, got a little bit more along the way, making do with using half the stack of cards, still holding strong, and when the winds of life came, though you were utterly upset that half your cards were blown away, you had already built a solid foundation, to keep it going, so you just needed to build it back up.  Then there are the professionals.  The professionals are the ones who took all of the factors of life into consideration and understood very early, "Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it."   So early in life, they laid the foundation of the Almighty in their lives. So when they built their card houses, they would bend the cards to hold a certain way to stay together, just as they bend their knees in life, constantly fasting and praying before the Lord.

    Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Most High God.  When the 2008 year came around, I scribbled some plans into action, drew on my planning boards, and was ready to go for the year.  God laughed. The book of James tells us "...ye that say, today or tomorrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:  Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that."

    I really want us think about one thing in 2009, God's will for our lives, and  having the Lord build our houses.  Often we get caught up in the cares of the world, and we get sucked in to the CNN’s, Fox News’, MTV's and the VH-1's of the world, including chat lines and blogging sites.  When most news isn't news or will never affect us, and the reality shows aren't a reality at all, but carefully scripted productions drawn to suck our attentions away of the matters of God.

    When everything in life starts to really get complicated we have to go back to the K.I.S.S. Theory, [Keep It Simple Stupid], because life is usually built on basic foundations and principles.  As the economy balances itself out [because that's all it is], we have to realize that the sky is not falling and that God Himself has not gotten off the Throne.  He still sits high and looks low, and the Heaven is still His throne, and the Earth is still His footstool.  So I write to you this beginning of 2009 and ask that we look and examine our lives.  If there is something in your life that you are holding on to that is so heavy, that it's dragging you down, it's time that you let it go. It's time that we look on High and understand what God's will is for our lives, and ask Him to build our houses.  Because we know that if we are in God's will, and if He builds the house, the things we are going through will work out because they are purposed and built by the hands of God.

    Jesus stated that if any man would come after Him; let him forsake his own life. "For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" — Often we don't think about what we are exchanging our souls for, but there are many that are exchanging a lot.  I often say, "Never dance with the devil unless you have something to lose."  Some of us are willing to gamble our souls for money, power, fame, sex, and greed, just to name a few.  Many of us are trying to keep our own wills going, still with our 4 playing cards, while at the same time we are fighting what God's will is for our lives. [Remember the story of Balaam and the donkey, when God told him not to go somewhere, and the Angel was going to kill him for not listening. Numbers 22].  Many of us are in the same situation, God sends road blocks, but we continue to try to go around them. — But how can we contend against the Mighty God?

    Now is the time to allow what God has done in our lives speak as a testimony for us.  God has kept us from famines, black-outs, and has kept food on the table.  Let us not forget what the Almighty has done for us: saved our lives, our souls, and our children, healed us from sickness and death, and graced us and our seeds. Now in 2009 as we come up with many slogans to tell us what 2009 will be for us, let us come up with this one: "Allow God to build your house. lest you labour in vain"

Remember every day as we are making choices, let us pray, fast, get in God's Word, and choose life this day, and be perfect in the will of God.

God Bless;
