"Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that you go to inquire
of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron?" [2 Kings 1:3]

   Recently I was watching CNN as quite often I do.  I began to listen to the announcers tell me that the sky was falling because of the economy.  At first I couldn't believe it, then I ran outside to see if was true [just kidding, I looked out the window].  As the commentators began to tell us that we were broke, unemployment was at 10%, and we couldn't get a job or credit even if we tried, I began to worry deeply.  Then I realized, I've had bad credit all my life and never needed it.  I haven't worked for another person in 11 years.  And even if I applied for every loan in the book, the response from the banks would be "Please Don't Apply Again, For Real - Don't."

So I began to wonder about how this entire thing was affecting me.  As I watched the stock market drop like a wet brick on CNN, I realized that the Dow could drop to "0", and I would be the same hundredaire that I was before the stock market opened. The truth is, there is a spiritual partnership between the media of our day and the government's co-dependence it strives to embed in our lives.  Many of us watch day after day, waiting and yearning for a government bailout in the likes of which we will never see a penny.  We wait and see false realities of political posturing, checks being written to friends of politicians, payoffs for political favors, and the media questioning none of it, because it is the puppet that is used by the puppet master.

Now we have to look beyond this, and ask ourselves, why are we looking for a Government Bailout?  Did God leave the throne? It was Jesus Himself who taught us that when we pray we ask the Lord to "Give us this day our daily bread" [Matt: 6:11], but so often we forget.  It is the promise of God, that if we believe by faith, He will give us our daily bread, making sure that our today is taken care of.  As the scripture tells us "Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.  Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." [Matt 6:34]

There is a story in the bible about Ahaziah, a king of Israel.  While in Samaria the king fell sick and needed healing. The king never once prayed to God to see if He would heal him, neither did he seek God's face for God's purpose for his life. So the Lord sent Elijah the prophet to the king and asked him the same question I'm asking us today, "Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that you go to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron?" [2 Kings 1:3]  And I ask the same thing.  Why are we seeking the Government or looking to the news outlets for our answers or solutions?  Some of us have even turned to psychics, and soothsayers to find out where the money went that we never even had. Did God leave the throne? God asked Job, "Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding." [Job 38:4]

As children of the Most High, the answer is simple, the author of the book of Hebrews tells us "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." [Hebrews 11:6]

Remember every day as we are making choices, let us pray, fast, get in God's Word, and choose life this day, and be perfect in the will of God.

God Bless;
